A two-car carport should be sized from the two vehicles and the access space between and around them. “20×20” and “double carport” are useful shopping labels, but neither guarantees comfortable usable width.
For side-by-side parking, add both vehicle widths, the desired gap between them and usable room between each outside vehicle and the nearest post or edge. For tandem parking, width drops but the two vehicle lengths and longitudinal gap are added instead.
The Carport Size Calculator lets you switch between those arrangements rather than assuming a nominal 20-ft roof is automatically a comfortable two-car structure. If one or both vehicles are pickups or work trucks, use Truck Carports to account for longer bodies, mirrors, racks and modified height.

Adds four feet of nominal depth over 20×20 when width works but longer vehicles or front/rear clearance need more room.
Adds depth for longer vehicles, tandem use, storage or a work zone without solving a width problem by itself.
More width for larger vehicles, easier door opening and circulation when the site allows it.
Two additional validated size classes are now available: 18×20 when site width is tighter, and 24×24 when a square/wider planning envelope is more useful. Neither size is an automatic two-car guarantee.
Use the calculated clear envelope as the requirement. Then let the Finder separate documented product possibilities from installed-provider options.

There is no single width that works for every pair of vehicles. Use the actual widths of both vehicles plus the side and between-vehicle clearances you want, then compare that required clear width with exact product geometry.
Possibly, but the answer depends on the SUVs, mirrors, access clearance and actual post spacing. A nominal 20-foot roof does not guarantee 20 feet of usable clear parking width.
